I cant get windows to find my SATA drive, even though its there in the BIOS. The situation is that the 120gb SATA drive used to be the boot drive, but recently I installed a 250gb PATA drive instead. I installed Media centre on it and thats all fine, but now I cant get windows to see the 120 SATA as a second drive, even in disk management. Infact in device manager it doesnt show the SATA controller at all. I tried taking the disk out and restarting then putting it back. Also tried switching SATA RAID on and off. The board is an Abit AN8 SLI with Nforce4 chipset. All my college stuff is on the SATA drive so I need to get it sorted ASAP :(
Any help is welcome, Thanks.

Maybe go into device manager>view>show hidden devices>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and make sure nothing is disabled, i had that problem a while ago but i forgot i had disabled a few settings in there.
(i don't know much about hdd's but my 2p anyway)

Easyrider, yes I have, the POST screen lists both the PATA and SATA drives, and as I said in the OP the mobo is an Abit AN8 SLI.

Khemist, I just tried what you said and it didnt show anything unfortunately.

Hominid, I have run the driver CD that came with the motherboard which includes the SATA drivers. The problem is that because windows doesnt seem to pick up the SATA controller at all, I cant update the drivers for it anyway. It doesnt even appear with the little yellow exclamation.

You tried Disk Management? I installed a 750GB SATA drive that was visible in BIOS, but not in Windows. I just had to set the drive up through Windows for it to become visible.
