its only showing 1gb of ram in xp control panel > system

cpu-z shows the full 4 gb

its 2x2 gb corsair xms2

i know windows xp wont detect the full 4gb, but surely it should see more than 1gb ?

sorted it, just flashed to the latest bios :)

now all i need is an overclocking guide for this motherboard ...

Just to start off with an easy clock.

Raise the FSB to 333.
Up the NB (northbridge) or MCH voltage one or two notches.
Set the vcore to 1.3
Make sure the memory is running at or under its rated speed.

Then boot into windows and run prime95 on small FTTs for an hour, if it passes lower the vcore a notch then repeat. Do this until it fails, then up it back one notch and test for around 8 hours using small FTTs. This will give you a line to work from for higher clocks :)
