Windows onto new machine (but still on old one for a little while)

Hello folks

Just about finished building my new x99 machine.
I haven't installed Windows on it yet.
I have one retail copy of Windows 7 which is currently on my old machine - the one on which I'm writing this.
I was thinking I might install it on my new machine - but not connect to the internet. Would this allow me to have Windows on the 2 machines for at least a little while?
I don't want to completely activate on my new machine and lose it from my old machine just yet, because if the new pc has teething problems I want to be able to use the old one to come on this forum and ask for help.
Obviously when I know the new pc is operating correctly I would activate the OS and dispose of the old pc.
Does that make sense?
Does that plan work?
What would you say is the best way to do this?
Thanks

Windows 7 will give you at least 30 days before it starts to nag about activation. You may be able to extend the trial period.

Splendid!
Actually will it be ok to have both machines connected to the internet? I suppose as long as I don't activate I should be fine right?

Don't enter the key on the new machine until you're ready. Windows 7 will allow you to install the OS without entering a key. This means you'll be able to have both machines online at the same time without a conflict.
