*** Windows Phone 8: Apollo ***

I'm going to be the nancy negative in this thread I can see. I think they butchered it - changing the game this late in the day will not make devs happy, they are only just catching up on screens, processors and models still fairly generic and nothing between them, it's all nice but not amazing to me. Maps again is mostly catchup although the offline solution will probably be better than And/iOS since they have done that native for a while.

Glacus, you couldn't click the share button in the gallery? You moaned about the only OS with full file control / permissions and even then, you only need to use this if you want to and then moan about a non OS function?

Can't wait, sounds awesome and iOS is really annoying me and android just doesn't work. On Holliday and mate who's well into android phone is just carp and I can't do sod all on ups like upload photos. It's too restricted with file managment and is rubbish with hotel wifi. Give me w8 locked down system but not so locked down I can't do basic stuff.

Just lol.

it's not that simple, when your trying to upload 16gb of photos on hotel Sofia with most ports blocked. Sd card adapter doesn't work on iPhone which reduces storage to just iPad. If I could just use websites uploads it would be slow but just leave it on overnight. But of course you can't do that.

Without knowing what you exactly did it seems odd to blame the OS considering ios/Android use webkit which works with pretty much anything desktop safari works with and MS's mobile browser is by a mile the least well supported. Every photo service works fine to me on webkit though, picasa, dropbox and many other services also have clients for it on most OSes.

I guess my point is each OS has their flaws like androids enterprise support, iOS lack of customisation, W7's weak app base and support but pointing out their strengths and calling them weaknesses is odd.

The enterprise W8 things are pretty shiney though, I just worry it's not enough at this stage.

It doesn't though on many aspects. It's been great to of had a nice side by side by side comparison. Of ICS and IOS5.1.1 the difference is huge over such a wide range tasks.

So now you're changing your statement from 'it doesn't work' to 'it doesn't work for some things'? Perhaps you'll see why I said your original statement was stupid :) It works just fine for millions of people.

I'd love to know what the some things were and how it doesn't work. I very much he's trying to do something that no one has done before.

Just because millions of people havea droid device, that isnt to say its means the are satisfied with it.

Statement was fine, does everything on this forum need spelling out, of course many things work, I don't think I need to write an essay to clarify it.
It's a wide range off stuff from missing functionality, to slow and rubbish UI, some directly android some app related.
One of the shocks was how much better google maps is. Seeing as I have massively cut down version, no turn by turn stuff. But just google maps is so much slicker on ios. On the other end it was a nightmare getting USA sim working and although we got it working in the end, is limited to edge rather than 3G.
iOS on that front wasn't as easy as it should be, kept saying only one copy off settings allowed, had to go and delete The apn profile, before installing new settings. Why not just overwrite it, or give the option, rather than just say no cant do it. But very simple work around.

There's millions of users for both iOS and android and it neither work fine, as proved by the ROM communities, while others just live with the niggles. (like me, whilst hopping for a better solution, which from all the developer blogs, keynotes and such like, win8 seems to overcome a lot of my niggles with both systems.)

I went from 3G to android and although I had plenty of issues (like no films grrrrr) the gap between the OS seems to off been a lot lower than it is now, which is the opposite of public opinion.

wtf....why would you even try to upload that amount of data on a connection that isn't yours and isn't meant for that kind of use?

Free up space, mate has a good DSLR, but only got a 16GB SD card. I'm more sensible got a compact with 32GB so I won't run out of space.

Just stop please its making my head hurt and my eyes bleed!

Tens if not hundreds of millions of android users have bought their third generation mobile now, myself included.. Galaxy S > S2 > S3. It works of course it works, so stop digging the silly hole before it swallow you up completely.

Enough

If you are actually being serious, then sir...... you have no clue how to work the phone.

Stick to IOS, nice and simple to use :)

EDIT:

Just because millions of people havea droid device, that isnt to say its means the are satisfied with it.

Another lol moment here.

If they aren't satisfied with it, then why would they continue to use it rather than simply returning it and getting something else e.g. windows phone, blackberry or an iphone instead?

And more importantly, why is it that the popularity of android just keeps rising every single day? If people aren't satisfied with android or don't like it then it really is quite simple, android would be nowhere as popular then..............

It is popular because people like the OS and what you can do with it.
