Windows Phone dead?

Competition is a good thing. Windows is not providing any though.

so why care if it's here or gone?

also that can be said about everything in life.. 1 thing may not provide anything to some , were it does to some others.

it's all down to peoples preference

I don't. It's so insignificant why would I?

yes, true but some here make it sound like they want it gone completely and it's hurting them to see it's still here. i don't understand why. it gives people choice. it doesn't mean everybody has to get one... it's not hurting the public that windows mobiles still here.

i use both android and windows everyday, i like both, if/when windows mobile goes completely, (which i don't think it will any time soon) it wouldn't bother me.

It could be argued its hurring Microsoft. There is an opportunity cost of persisting with something that isn't performing brilliantly.

We are the customers though. Microsoft aren't developing software purely for themselves.

yes we are the customers so that means we have choice, to use it or not.

if the lack of apps is a issue, then don't use it. simple..

as i said above it's all down to peoples preference. theres a lot of customers that isn't app crazy and don't care about lack of apps.

now MS as bought Xamarin we may see more apps being added, this year.

But I'd like to use it. All my PCs are Windows 10, having Cortana and stuff on Android would be great. Thats never going to happen while they persist with their own mobile OS.

Don't forget Windows Phone (in the UK anyway) has something like 30% of the business market although I can't find the latest figures it was at 25% + last year. That's not all up market share of course but it's also far from dead.

Blurb here

Utter nonsense, it's already available on android. In fact there's more Ms apps on iPhone and android than there are on wp. Not only that they have partnered with Cyanogen OS to essentially make Microsoft fork of android. With Cortana, office etc built in. Meaning Cortana has full access to the OS.

It would also hurt MS more to give up on WP as it is essential to their business.

You very much seem to want it dead for no reason.

they already have Cortana beta and office, etc on android

their mobile OS is window 10, one base code across pc, tablet, mobile. the mobile version of windows 10 isn't a completely different OS

The Lumia range has been well received over the years. So you still aren't hitting the nail. In fact plenty of people have moaned for years that they want android on the Lumia range.

I genuinely didn't know Cortana was on Android. Is it any good?

Saying the Lumia range has been well received is rather short sighted considering they have pretty much been the only ones available for most of modern WPs life.

I don't particularly want WP dead. I think it's crap and I enjoy watching people grasp at anything and everything they can to try and insist its not though :p. I suppose you all have a speach prepared about how developing iOS and Android apps and getting into bed with Cyanogen mod is somehow not bad news for Windows Phone ;)

Whats that got to do with people wanting android on it and liking the hardware in general?

No idea, haven't tried it. It's Not as full featured as on wp, due to OS restrictions (but far more complete than ios version), unless you get a cyanogen OS phone (not mod).
