I play with my phone less and less as time goes on. It's mainly used for phone calls, whatsapp, facebook, tapatalk and browsing the web. The only apps I really use are the BBC news and sports apps and the free Sky Sports ones. My current phone is a Nexus 5 and I typically upgrade once per year, so I'm looking at others options over the Nexus 6.

I'm just wondering if anyone has moved from Android to Windows Phone and what do you think?

iPhone is out of the question.

I prefer Windows Phone, it makes a great phone and camera. But there are still some instances where Android is better:

Chrome > IE. IE is good, but re-flowing is not as good, and it is missing the feature of Chrome where you tap on something small and it magnifies to allow you to pick the best option.

Google Navigation is both better and worse then Here Drive, I like the route choices with Google and rich POI, but love the offline mapping of Here Drive. Another issue is I've had some crazy route suggestions on Here Drive, with no option to pick an alternative.

Apps. I don't care that much, but there is always something like a coupon in a store or some other random App that is unsupported.

Settings Menu. I hate it on Windows Phone, you have to read every option, there is no icons or groups.

Overall at the cheaper end Windows Phone is a winner, but spend too much and I personally think you'd be better off with high end Android.

I currently own both a Nokia 925 and Samsung Galaxy S4.

The S4 drove me crazy with the power button always triggering the emergency dialler, or switching itself off.

Actually I hadn't thought of Google Nav, I use it all the time in my S2000 but not in my Audi as that has built in Nav.

I'm not really limited to budget, but on the flip side I don't really want to be spending more than what the Nexus 6 will cost as that would be the natural replacement to my N5.

So, I ended up dropping my Nexus 5 and smashing the screen last night, so I thought I'd upgrade early so I bought a Lumia 930 today. It's a great phone so
far, but apps are definitely lacking. Happy that the ones I use mostly are available but there is a lack of depth.

As for the OS itself, it's a nice change from Android and very snappy.

Windows phone feels fresh and modern. Android and more so Apple, feel very dated to me.

Windows phone 8.1 has some nice touches - set a background for the home screen, and translucent tiles scroll over the fixed background, it looks amazing.

I've no idea how to set that up. Mine is pretty standard right now.

Ah, just worked out how to set a pic. Some tiles are translucent, but not all.

So I took the phone back and exchanged it for a Nexus 5. So I'll have two of them, will shift the insurance replacement on here when I get it.

Reasons why I went back:

A few apps I use were not in the Windows store.
IE is rubbish. No official Chrome or FF app to use instead.
Settings menu is over complicated.

It got to the point where I wanted to stamp on the phone, couldn't be doing with that, so back to the old and trusty Nexus it is.

I don't find IE rubbish at all. No better or worse than Chrome on my Moto-G.

Yes the settings menu is very long, it can be difficult to find things there.

Setting menu is apparently going to come alphabetical with the jumps list thing, like the app menu in next update. Developer preview off it in October by all reports. Not that it's a huge problem, who keeps delving into settings. Especially now with quick launch in action centre, where I have WiFi, tethering etc.

Not sure what's wrong with IE.

I just find Chrome easier to use.

Another thing is that I had no reception in places where I would have it with the Nexus 5.

Maybe I didn't have enough patience but I'm much happier with the N5.

Weird you find the settings menu more complicated, i nearly died looking st what i thiught was a complete mess on Android.

Find IE across the board much better.
