WIndow's problems

Ok I have a massive problem, whenever I try and access internet explorer or my documents/my computer I just get a message saying internet explorer has encountered an error and will now close, and then you have the option of whether to send a report or not. Now i don't really know much about computers so how do I go about resolving this problem? And for those of you who are wondering I'm on a College computer atm.

Have you tried accessing them in safe mode? Do you get the same problem?
Also try sfc /scannow from the run command to check out the windows files.

Might be worth running run virus and skyware scans as well.
