Windows Server 2008 R2 - Activating with an SPLA Key

Does anyone know...

If you build a Windows Server 2008 R2 box with no key given at install time, will it activate happily with an MS SPLA key?

It should do yes, so long as the version you install and the key match up.

So the next question is... which install media version matches SPLA?

I have access to MS Partner Downloads which includes 2008 R2.

Install media is in-specific with Windows 7/Server 2008 R2. Just so long as you only install the edition (Standard, Web, Enterprise, Datacenter, etc) that you have a key for, it should activate fine.
