Agreed, I think most have had bad updates at some point.

The amount of grief I have with their on-access scanning on customer's machines, and now this. They really can FOAD along with mcafee, sophos, etc

... but Microsoft Security Essentials is designed to work only on clients PCs such as Windows 7, etc...

That maybe, however I've been using MSE on three 2008 R2 servers for over 3 years now. MSE even updates itself by the regular Windows Update on these machines.

Server 2012 is based on Windows 8 so MSE will not work on Server 2012.
