We have in our office a RICHOH3025 photocopier with scan to email function. We are having issues when from time to time the scan to email suddenly stops sending, then i am having to restart the server each time to get it up and running and working again. The server has Windows Small Business Server 2011 (SP1) installed, can anyone advise if their is a function on this that needs started to help in this problem we are having.

I have tried restarting cisco router, unplugging network cabling, only if i reboot it starts working again. Very strange.

Any help most appreciated.

Interesting, I've got the same copier and server on one of my sites and they have the same intermittant problem. They dont need to reboot the server, it just sorts itself out given time. The copier people are fairly convinced its the copier as they've seen the same problem over and over and the previous copier was fine.

Can I ask what steps you took to fix it and has the fix been working for an extended time now (longer than the 20 minutes of your first and second post)?

Thanks!

When i spoke to RICOH and the technical guys that sold the photocopier they did not have a clue either. After an hour it is still working with no hang ups.

I opened up exchange management console and clicked on server config. then Hub transport and then created a new receive connector and put in the details of the photocopier.. i.e mail address of server and IP address of photocopier and that was it.

Drat, already done the receive connector (well resused the same one from the old copier). Switched off all content filtering in exchange as well. Can't understand why it works for a while then sulks for a day before working again.

What if you removed that re-used receive connector and created a new one? Seems illogical, but then I've seen weirder things in SBS land! :D

And yes, I fell into this same trap with the send via email on a Xerox not working until I figured out the receive connector.

Enable protocol logging on the receive connector, then look at the SMTP conversation (it's a text file) to see where it's failing (assuming it is failing at SMTP level). If the SMTP completes, use the Message Tracking tools in the EMC toolbox to see where it might be failing after that.
