Windows Small Network

Got a router today and tried to set it up so me and my flat mate can share files on computer.

Went into my network places and selected create home network, did that on friends computer as well. Both restarted , I can see his files but he cant see anything of me? I have my whole C: selected as being shared?

Any suggestions?

Can he ping your machine by IP or by hostname?

Start menu ..... Search ..... Computers or people ..... A computer on the network ..... * enter mates computer name and press search. IF it finds it double click on the computer to open shared folders list.

OR Right click on My Network Places icon ( if there ) and Search for computers and continue from * above

OR double click on My Network Places ( if there ) and then Add a network place.... Next ..... Choose another network location .... Next .... enter two back slash (\\) and your mates computer name then one backslash (\) the shared folder name and then press Next. SHOULD then offer you to name that place if it connects and press Next.
