I'm running Vista x64.....and I got the SMP beta....set the executables to all run as admin...it seems to run fine and then pulls a WU from the server...but it fails to initialize the cores.

This is what it's giving me:

can anyone help?

Did you run the batch file thing before first installing the SMP client. Does the admin user have full rights to the folder where your client files are located?

the -1 error your getting is a common problem. due to an incorrect shutdown (well that why it happens to me)
Ctrl+c your smp window,
then use task manager to close smpd.exe (your'll need to do this three times)
remove files from smp folder
reboot
reinstall
and start using the bat file on this thread (changing file path to suit)

Hope that helps - I'm sure there's a quicker way but if you don't have a unfinished unit it work every time.

What's so special about that batch script? Is it that it just automates it so you don't need to type anything or am I missing the magic element?

Basically it stops the client from hanging after it uploads a wu. Was running client with the -oneunit flag which stops errors but also doesn't help with new WU's if I'm not arround. The batch file basically is the best of both running each WU as a 'oneunit' but consecutively - if you never had a problem with downloading a new WU then it's not needed.
