Windows update failed but installed fine after retrying?

So I did a clean install of Windows 7 and installed all latest drivers and did the update. Everything was fine until I got to the final updates. Windows update failed to install 6 security updates for .Netframe Work 3.5.1. It gave me this code:"WindowsUpdate_8024200D" "WindowsUpdate_dt000"

But, I clicked "try again" and it installed without failure. But I want to know what caused to fail the first time?

I did a quick Google search and didn't find any useful information.

Had other updates been installed at the same time, the first time?

Sometimes following updates will fail unless the system has been rebooted and pending updates have been applied.

When you're doing batch updates some can error out for reasons posted above. As long as they go through eventually you'll be fine.

MS should release quarterly update packs to replace hotfixes imo.

.Net updates are commonly problematic. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=20858 Can also be used if you think you have a generic update issue.
