Windows update issues

Well, they do test this stuff obviously and it's not often you get serious problems.

However it must be noted that over the last few months I've seen more than the average share of these sorts of issues. It's hard to say whether it's just bad luck or there has been a change in the standard of quality control for whatever reason.

Microsoft say it was video card driver need to be updated and try again on windows updates, that's should resolved it but it didn't! Microsoft need to sort it out!

With me it was the problem of repeated installation  and it took me some time to realise that it was happening

Easy enough to stop by 'hiding' the upgrade but will now have to keep an eye out for when Microsoft actually sort the problem.:(

This caused a nightmare for some clients here. Due to the way some of them use SCCM 2012, it meant that the update was immediately applying to servers (remote desktop with office installed) that would cause the RDS servers to constantly apply the updates and reboot. Ad Nauseum.

We test every patch internally then whitelist it on our internal stuff but some of our clients have their own "system" of whitelisting everything before testing deployment. With all the endless reboots of virtual hardware on the cloud, we were seeing spikes in I/O and CPU constantly until we switched them all off, advised each client (most of which were NOT very happy), and then advise them to hide those updates.

Bad group policy settings and bad SCCM settings are more of a danger than bad windows updates.

We have a ticket raised here with Microsoft paid SA Priority, still nothing back as of yet.

QA has gone quite literally on these updates recently. It broke the windows update components for me & many others so the only way to repair is a complete OS reinstall

I'm glad I noticed this topic. I was just about to start a new one asking why my updates weren't working.

Three updates reckon to have installed successfully 5 times but I'm still getting alert messages about them. One of them isn't even mentioned in either of those articles - KB2810048, but then I guess there aren't that many people still using Excel 2003 :o

Hope it's sorted soon as it's starting to get annoying!

Not had any problems with updates dropped earlier in the week, Win7 here.

it only affecting those with old office 2007. I try uninstalled office 2007 and the windows update with kb2760411 and kb2760588 had disappear! And when re-installed office 2007 and these windows update kb2760411 and kb2760588 kept show up and kept repeating.

So I give up and select these both in hidden! Still no reply or no words from Microsoft.

I solved the problem by unchecking and hiding the updates, but I'll probably remove MS office 2007 when I go back on my laptop since I don't even use it and it's just bloat pre-installed by acer which I don't think is even activated.

But but but... I don't have ANY version of Office on my Win 8 machine, why does it keep re-installing these updates!?

Or does it include Word Viewer type programs too?

Just make it stoppp....

Yup viewer apps too are causing issues. We got a response from Microsoft support which was to unapply the updates on every machine using powershell and then apply the new re-released updates which seems to have fixed it.

It does seem that WU and SCCM installs setup for clients are not very good at applying update revisions of the same update, which makes no sense really. Poor installs and setup implementation.

The clients on the other hand are having loads of fun due to their cloud RDS systems being in the same OU as their laptops / desktops. Sadly out of my area to fix thankfully :D
