windows update wont install the graphics driver wddm 1.1 for the hd graphics 4400 i got my new setup up and running and used my mobo disk to install drivers win update says its optional would that mean that it isnt really important?

i wouldn't worry about installing drivers from windows update.

having said that, i'd grab the latest drivers from the manufacturer website rather than using any driver disks. that's just my preference though. if you're happy with the way things are working now, it's not that important.

Steer clear of drivers offered on Windows update - especially with regard to display drivers. The amount of times I have used those and ended up with a non working driver or a black screen on reboot has made me very cautious regarding drivers offered by windows update.

From what I've seen the drivers offered tend to be for compatibility so for example a vga driver will get your windows display working but for any sort of performance (3d, games etc) they are useless.

Get your drivers direct from the manufacturer and avoid the hassle.

This, I have had similar issues, generally speaking the optional downloads are exactly what they say, optional, you can install them if you wish, but theres no real need to unless you need what they are offering, thatbeing said, keeping in mind whats said above, don't DL the windows ones and always get direct from manufacturer its the safest method
