Windows Update

Trying to update windows but keeps saying some updates could not be installed.....?

Tryed Windows Live Messenger for the Sign in Assistant & Messenger but says installation is unsucessful...

Been through the HELP pages & i have plenty of HD space & the firewall is set to accept the Live Messenger,

What else can be wrong? What can i do?

Does it give you an error code with the message?

This is an obvious one but check that the date and time are correct on your machine. This has caught a few people out before!

To solve your Windows update problems, Type the following one by one into 'Run' (or copy and paste)

Always sorts out any Windows update problems on any of my client PCs. This Re-registers key files within Windows which are used for Windows\Microsoft Update

No dont get any error messages just says installation unsucessful... please try again later, then it give me the option to go to the windows help page & gives me possible reasons why it wont install, & the only one i seem to be the prob is a problem with windows update site itself.

Are you on XP? If so, give this a try. Flushing software distribution and then checking all the boxes below 'fix windows update' and then pressing go has fixed most if not all WU problems i've had on XP machines so far. Supposedly the author is working on a vista version.

I'll second that. These functions have always sorted out my Windows Update woes.

instead of typing them in one by one..

copy that lot into notepad, and save it as 'windows udpate fixer.bat' then double click the .bat file

So will this fix the prob with install LIVE messenger?

Yes, It basically a third party Windows Live Messenger Client -without all of the bloat that comes with Live Messenger.

It's an IM client and you can sign into msn, yahoo and umpteen other IM services.

It's really good.

yup

and it doesn't lag like a mother when opening, msn is shocking now (even with 'apatch' on it)

what i did was download pidgin portable, then just copy this to each pc i need it on after i'd setup my msn profile on it, you get tabbed chat windows for one
