Hi guys,

My system spec is in my sig. I run Windows Vista 32bit.

I don't understand why it takes sooo long to alt and tab out of World of Warcraft and back in (talking 1min plus either way). Also, when tabbed out, it takes another min for the system to become properly responsive. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Regards,

Farore

Sounds like you just don't have enough RAM. That will slow alt-tabs down because the system has to read the game into memory when you switch to it; then, when you do something else, your memory is filled up by the game so other files need to be loaded again. That cycle just repeats itself.

2GB disappears pretty quickly with Vista, a complex game and background apps. A good test of how much memory you're using would be to play WoW for a while and view the percentage of used RAM in the task manager. If it's more than about 80% then you need more RAM.

It will most likely be a combination of the two, ram and drivers.

2GB for wow is now bare minimum in places like dalaran unless you have gfx settings very low. Try and get some more ram to give wow a bit of space and you should see improvements.

I had the 30second or so wait when tabbing until i updated to the latest drivers also.

My drivers are updated but it didn't seem to bit of difference. I guess I will order some more RAM.
