Windows Vista Question.

I got Vista Home Premium on my lappy and can't seem to find my User Account Control settings? Well, I think I need to find it, I have some applications that has a shield on it, as per picture below.

And every time I want to use on of these programs, I get the UAC popping up, which is a bit annoying, considering I don't have any problem with the same programs on Win7, with the UAC set on always notify me!

Is it possible to get rid of that annoying little thing?

Any and all suggestions and advice, as always, greatly appreciated!

Not much help, but is that an old version of Skype? As I have UAC on default setting and it doesn't have shield on shortcut icon. And don't get prompted when load up Skype.

Edit: Using Skype v4.1.0.179. Can type User Accounts into Start button search box.

Personally I'd live with it but you can download and kill it with this if required :cool:

Ahh just found it, but what is this? I can only turn it on or off, not adjust it as in Win7?!?!? What utterly crap is that?!

Ohh and yes, its a very old version of Skype I just noticed.. from 2008.. that what happens when you get programs pre-installed ehh.. going to download the latest version and see what it tells me..

Ahhh thank you Deaeger, that do help! I know I could live with it but it started to annoy me every time I opened some programs! Maybe I am just being a bit of a toss! :eek:

(Just using the silent mode though)

PS. Any way you can get ride of the shields that is showing as well?

Not sure, maybe they only vanish if you turn UAC off completely?. I can't really say m8.

Just tried turning UAC off and did a reboot. Still had shield on icons when reloaded, and got the XP style prompt up.

Yup, I just tried turning it off as well, and the shields are still there.. never mind, at least I don't have to click approve everytime I open my programs now.. was a bit irritating considering some I use more or less every time I am on the lappy..
