hey thought i would let you know of old software that you might not have come across. you probably have but it makes win xp 64bit better imo

total commander
virtual dimension
taskbar shuffle
foobar
putty connection manager

you probably heard of the software but just in case anyone has not.

windows 7 is a nightmare, shiny and designed for retards.

have you seen that control panel, my head exploded when i had to go through 5 screens just so i could get into network connections....

then i couldn't do an ipconfig /renew i had to right click on the cmd and go run as and use the administrator account, then it works.

as **** as vista, if only slightly more shiny and slightly more clicks and slightly less sluggish.

i am going to stick with win xp 64bit until i can't use it anymore then switch completely to freebsd for desktop os.

Hahaha, ok, whatever you say. I guess I must be a retarded network infrastructure manager for a large UK business then.

Just because you seem unable to grasp the new system architecture of Windows 7 doesn't make it "shiny and for retards".

I'm sorry to take this thread slightly off-topic, but I fail to see how you managed to make it take 5 screens to get to network connections when you could've simply right-clicked the Network icon in the systray and chosen to open 'Network and Sharing Center'. You could've also clicked start, typed in 'net' and right clicked the 'Network' option and hit properties or even clicked straight on the 'Network and Sharing Center' icon.

As for the ipconfig /renew issue, you can either choose the easy way out and disable UAC or move with the times and get used to newer ways of doing things.

If MS try to change things they get bitched at. If MS were to keep things the same they'd be bitched at for letting the OS grow stagnant, they can't win with some people. Things change and you just have to get used to it. If you actually spent a decent amount of time with 7 or even Vista you'd eventually learn much faster ways of doing things. Or just stick with XP, but you'll have to upgrade sooner or later so why delay the inevitable?
