Death Star or Mount Doom, it depends on the day.
My GF has gave me hair old laptop to sort out and after a bit of fiddling I found out that it hasn't had an update for a very long time due to the automatic updates being turned off!

Anyway's, when I come to install service pack 3 for xp, I get this error code!

'Service Pack 3 Setup Error, This Service Pack requires the machine to be on AC Power before setup starts'

If I ignore this error the installation fails. Any idea as to why?

Sounds like Windows Power managment is not detecting your AC connection, or the laptop has a faulty connection, does it charge ok and when you add/remove the power connection, does the windows power icon change in the system tray to reflect this?

Oh I am very special this morn, I forgot to flick the switch on when the cable was plugged in! Stupid laptops! I will advise my woman to get a desktop.:o:o:o:o:o Thanks chaps.
