Windows XP startup sound versus the Mac

Of course you can run Linux on a Mac. Why else do they have PowerPC binaries listed right alongside the i386 and AMD64/EM64T ones?

Heck, Linus Torvalds writes the kernel on a dual G5 PowerMac.

Yes but that startup sound is very like the MAC startup sound :o ~Better it was titled Mac because the average user has never heard of Linux.

Well I tought there might have been some such response of that regard when I posted the thread but I decided to post it anyway as some may have found it amusing and by the time you have finished reading this sentance without any punctuation you will have wasted another 15 seconds :)

My housemate once wanted desperately to kill the start-up sound on his mac. He couldnt figure it out, so he went over to some big mac forum and asked. He started a thread about it, and got told by 7 people "why would you want to do that?". Lol, i use a mac, but if i ever turn into 'that' kind of mac user, someone shoot me.

I really hate the windows startup noise, fter 4 years it really starts to grate. :p

I assume the mac startup doesnt really go on that long?

Other than the noise made when it boots, the chord-like sound, Macs don't make any noise on start-up. Even the chord can be disabled in the Preferences menu.

The video is a gag, it's not any Linux's or any Mac OS's startup noise.

Hmm. I thought there was one. I dont have a Mac handy on which I could test. How about this, mute the sound then reboot.
