Windows XP upgrade

I'm planning to upgrade to windows xp on my mum's laptop. It's a Toshiba Satellite 2800-200. It's currently running Windows ME.

My only concern is that on the toshiba website, the drivers say they only use the Windows ME operating system. However, if I just upgrade are my drivers actually lost?

Yes. Some components will likely need win2000/xp drivers.

I have just had another look on the site and they have some windows 2000 drivers, will these work with xp?

no i dont think so,

xp and 2003 use the same drivers

2000 shares drives that nt4 uses iirc.

Most 2000 drivers work on XP. And most drivers for fairly standard bits of kit are included in windows, so you probably won't have to download many.

I just went ahead and did it, it all works well as do the drivers

XP and 2003 use the same kernal and are the same OS for different roles.

2000 and XP drivers are similar and usually will work on both OS's.

NT4 drivers are not cross compatibile with 2k.
