Because I'm going to be buying a 64bit processor, will this mean that I have to have 64bit OS? If this is the case I've been searching around for a Windows XP 64bit and I've found Microsoft Windows XP x64 Corporate With SP2. What does that contain, and do I need it? I'm using Windows XP Pro, on my current setup, will this work on a 64bit processor?

Thanks.

corp edition if your buying it will be illegal,

if your downloading it, it will also be illegal dude. simple as.

Corp edition is for companies.

You dont need to get the 64bit edition, but if your going to be running 4gb or more ram you will need it.

Nope, only going to be running 2 gig for the time being. So I can stick with my Current XP Pro? Which I'm assuming is 32bit. Is it alright for me to transfer the OS between machines?

Steer away from XP 64-Bit.

why the heck do ya say that dude?

XP 64-bit is excellent, finding it more stable than xp and i have been using it for nigh on 2 years with no issues what so ever.

I admit at the start there were loads of driver issues, (lack of drivers)

but now there is no reason not to use the 64bit version.

Ok I'm gonna stick with my XP Pro and no it's not an OEM version. Is it worth getting an upgrade to XP Media Centre or not worth it?

As far as I'm aware Media Centre is based of XP Pro with some added features? Is this true, in which case I might as well go for Media Centre if it adds a bit more?

XP64 today is every bit as good as XP32.

99% of stuff works on it... There is a very small number of apps that I have that dont...

O&O DeFrag but then there is *** 64Bit version of that.

A very small number of games can be weird on it, but OTTOMH, all the games I have play on it great and in fact many games play better... FarCry etc looks way better on XP64 than on plain old boring XP32.

Driver support has improved 10-fold and while there is still some hardware out there that still does not work, the fact is, that the reason behind that, is that the hardware just isnt good enough to support so the companies have not bothered to release drivers for it... Well, I think so anyway.

I also find that XP64 has much better driver support for it at this time, than Vista does.

So, to say steer clear of it is a complete lie.

And as has been said... Corp Edition is, Like normal XP Corp, an illegal version floating around... You can only really get the PRO version ( There is no HOME version of XP64 )

And as for media center, this is a total waste of time if you ask me, its kind of XP Pro wit hsome stuff taken out, and a dire pile of horse cack thrown in, but hey, if you want a seriously slow poor pile of cack Media center on your PC then Windows MCE is the way to go.

Flash?

Well, I dont know, good question.

Anything I have seen on the net thats FLASH based just works?

I use FireFox for internet stuff and well, it just works

I know I was thrown to download a Flash Player plug in, now is this 32 or 64Bit?

I think also that Safari also wanted a plug in too, or whas that the same one????

Listen, just use Firefox and it does everything you need it to.

Stand alone flash?
Dont know, dont need dont use etc so I dont know. Any WebSites I make are purely HTML based as I want them to run on any OS on any Machine so fancy stuff is out of the window AFAIC.

I'm not sure why you would want to use a 64-bit version of a browser? Unlikely that it will need more than 2GB or 4GB memory (I forget how much a program is limited to under 32-bit). Stick with the 32-bit IE so you don't have any messing about with the ActiveX controls.

They're all equally stable, Vista XP, x86, x64...they're only unstable when people are doing things they shouldn't i.e. installing crap software / broken hardware and overclocking too far.

P.S. Vista x64 F.T.W..

Anyone know where I can get a cheap copy of x64 XP Pro? Im sorry if this is talking about ocmpetitors but as OcUK don't sell it then, they're not in competition with anyone!
