Hello there - please could someone help with a simple question about resizing partitions in Windows 7?

I have a 240Gb drive currently partitioned 80Gb as "C: programmes" with the OS etc on and the remainder as a "data" partition. I'd like to increase the C drive a bit and whilst I can see how to do this, and I can shrink the data partition to create unallocated space, the option to expand the C drive is greyed out...

Am I doing something daft here - I suspect so....

Cheers

TC

The only option is to backup the data on the "data" partition then delete the "data" partition, after this is done you will have the option to expand your "C" partition, you can then create a new partition for your data and restore your data files to the newly created data partition.

Another option would be to use third party software.

partedmagic iso, download that, use imgburn to burn it

then resize using 'gparted' it's part of the disc

BACKUP FIRST
