Windscreen fogging up

I have to say I only ever use AC or CC when I'm on the motorway and need it, else, I just use atmospheric air - I like AC when I need it, but not a fan of having it on all the time.

A consequence of constant AC is the constant minor crapping of oneself when you park the car on an incline and come back to a puddle of fluid running out from under it, before realising where it has come from. :p

My windscreen fogs up about 30 seconds after turning the AC off, may have to check the cabin filter to see if i've managed to blast it with the jetwash

You wouldn't use it all the time if you had less than 100bhp and you wanted to make it up inclines without changing down all the time. AC makes my car so sluggish which is why I haven't bothered changing the condenser because I used it so rarely. I need about 500 more revs to pull off cleanly with AC so more clutch wear etc.

Anyway, paradigm in unable to understand why someone would do something differently to him non-shocker.

I pretty much only use the AC when it's hot and when the screen fogs up. :p

think mine needs re-gassing to be fair xD

but to help prevent the screen fogging up you can get solutions that you wipe on and prevent it. bought some from halfords for about £6.50 i think and it worked a treat on my ex's car when her ac/fans stopped working all together :)

You don't even need to do that. Turn blower on, adjust temp accordingly. I guess having a heated front screen helps too.

I don't need to turn the AC off to get a decent amount of fuel economy out of it, I certainly don't see the need to be more uncomfortable in the cabin than I otherwise would be, to perhaps eek a bit closer to 70MPG on a run?

I can survive with normal humidity air so comfort isnt really a concern. Arguably with contact lenses its the other, of course that would be me stating an opinion which is not compatible in discussion with you own 'facts'.

What car is this?

MG ZS, 1.8. My mum's 45, same car with the 1.6 engine, does the same thing, so I'm assuming they're not both broken in identical ways.

I agree with Janesy B, it does make it more annoying in traffic, and sometimes feels like it's about to stall unless I give it a bit more throttle when the AC is on.

Speaking of AC/CC - VW's climate control is completely rubbish. Set it to 21 and it's too cold, 22 can't decide if it wants to cool or heat you and 23 is too hot.

Where are the .5 increments?!

Where are the hot or cold only top vents?!

/rant.

Who said turning off AC suddenly makes you uncomfortable in the cabin??

I leave my climate control at 19c all the time and unless the weather gets above that temperature, which it won't do again for the next 8 months or so, I am completely comfortable just moving the centre roller if I suddenly get hot/cold.

If I need to demist the inside or the weather suddenly gets hot, I just simply extend my left pinkie and prod the little button with an icicle on it. For the vast majority of the time I just save any unnecessary wastage of fuel.
