The two times I've got companies out to sort chips, they've faffed about for an hour, then knocked on the door proclaiming either that they can't do anything with the chip, or that they've had a go, screwed up and most likely weakened the screen in the process. Nice.
For a fiver, I'd have a go with a DIY kit on a warm, dry day. Or not bother. Or get a new windscreen.

This is my first unfortunate experience of a cracked screen and it is already something I am dreading ever happening again.
