Windscreen wipers

They are expensive but last well and you can buy refills to keep the cost down when they need replacing.

I used speeding.co.uk to order them from.

the bosch ones ive alway bought seem to last about a year. after that they judder

halfords ones are worse. i put them on the gfs car and they lasted 6 months and were rusting at the joints. looked terrible

im getting the next set from VW. valeo are french iirc. no chance theyll be any use

Dunno about the blades, but i'd recommend giving your windscreen a coating of rain-x, amazing stuff, don't really need to even use the wipers on the motorway :D

People who work in Halfords are idiots though:D

Thanks for the input!

With anywhere you get good guys and bad guys and for the crap the company put you through for £5.83 an hour I know what you would be like. The people that go to Halfords just want it fixed with the least fuss. Paying for blades to get fitted when it's only a case of rotationt he blade 90 degrees. They won't care about PIAA or some star studded super wipers.

You can buy them from wilkinsons for £1.79 each, and they last 6-9 months. Bosch ones cost considerably more, but only last 2-3 times as long. They both have the same performance and work just as well.
Buy cheap, and buy more.

Bosch ones are a tenner. It isnt worth the hassle of buying £1.79 ones really is it?

Ten quid and they'll last 3 times as long, I'll happily pay that premium to get 18-32 months out of them between changes.

Do you actually get that long out of them before they just smear and become useless?

I used to have some of the retro-fit aero blades i got off ebay, they lasted around 1.5 - 2 years

Just replaced them with standard halfords blades as i got the pair for a fiver on trade, seem to be working fine so far, only been on for a month though.

Could be anywhere from a year (Bosch) to 27 (Lowest to highest).

Ive had the Bosch ones on for 11 months now, and I can tell they are degrading. They are starting to leave lines across the windscreen and judder when not soaked.

I do need to get my Rain-X back on there though!

I had some Bosch wipers on my car which only lasted a year and that was only with about 4000 miles of driving. Not very impressed at all, then bought some cheap own brand ones from wiperblades.co.uk which have been fine thus far.

To be fair the life will vary every year whatever brand the wipers are. Some months you'll be wiping x amount of crap off the screen and other months Nature will eat away at them harder than the previous set of wipers so lifespan won't be the same.

Also many people just use their wipers to actually clean their windscreens at every opportunity when it's not raining instead of actually spending 5 minutes before the journey with window cleaner and some old newspaper. Obviously this eats away the wiper sooner than anything regular weathering.

Wipers don't maintain themselves.

Perfectly happy with my cheap Halfords blades to be honest. They clear the screen and move water certainly better than the blades they replaced. I did look at the Bosch ones and think "Should I spend the extra?", I then reminded myself I was buying wiper blades!

Only a fiver with ta trade card too!

Bosch Wipers are good at the start, but then start smearing really bad after just 3-4months. Really looking for a different make, but PIAA are really expensive and hard to find.

Not my experience - I've had bosch ones on my car for nearly a year and they're still perfect.

I've tried all sorts of floppy blades and they've always been rubbish but many people rave about them - each to thier own I suppose!

You get what you pay for with these things I guess - although LOL at trying to get a refund for some cheapy wiper blades

I run oem blades bought at bmw, not sure who makes them but they have more pivots than the bosche equivalents and fit the curvature of the screen better. Work really well - but I am OCD about keeping the screen clean...

I was hoping to use PIAA silicon blades after all the good reviews but after spending out on them even the curved blade was hanging away from the screen on the passenger side which looked daft. They are meant to work really well though if you can get the right fitment.

Not tried the new aero blades yet.

Bosh super plus are the dogs danglies. That's all I ever use on my car and we get a lot of rain over here so they get plenty of testing. lol !
