I've got my dad an encyclopedia of wines around the world book for xmas. I want to get him a bottle or 2 or decent wine for him too but i have no idea what is good.

I have also got a 40% discount voucher for threshers & bottoms up which expires tomorrow (theres a threshers and bottoms up locally to me)

What is a good wine for around £10 or £15? (he likes both red and white)

I dont drink wine very often but you must realise that just because you spend £15 on a bottle of wine it doesnt neccessarily make it "good".

Thresher do a *fantastic* Kiwi, Sauvignon Blanc called "Daisy Rock". One of the best whites I have tasted in quite a while. Should be well within your budget.

You should not only buy your dad one but get one for yourself; enjoy it with a nice gooey stilton or cheese of your choice. You'd be surprised how many younger people I've converted to this weekend in front of the fire type habit;)

Just been and got the Kiwi, Sauvignon Blanc "Daisy Rock" and Ernest & Julio gallo Ruby red

Zip - They didnt have the Bleasdale 'Mulberry Tree' Cabernet Sauvignon

I used my 40% off voucher and got the 2 for about £8.50

Thanks

I have a few faves. For red, I'd have to say one of the following:

Wolfblass "Yellow Label" Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon. That is about £8 normally but the asda by me is selling it for £6 at the mo

Also, Wolfblass 'Presidents Selection' (it has a white label) is amazing red wine. That's usually between £8 and £12 a bottle.

You seem to like Your Barrossa Vally wines:p(Altough Wolfblass do Grow some grapes in other reegions aswell)

Another thumbs up for Wolf Blass Yellow label, cant go wrong with either but prefer the Shiraz myself. Im not big on whites but can recommend a bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, another good Kiwi. I would let you help yourself to some wine from work, its taking over the bottom half of the warehouse making my job a complete nightmare.
