[WINE]

Question is - perhaps we should start on red grapes instead?

How many white drinkers? Perhaps we should get a poll added. I'll try arranging a Don todo it tonight when I have more time.

I prefer white but am happy to experiment with Red. I suggest you use an online store like oddbin's so everyone doesn't have to go rooting through their local Thresher's hoping to find what's been suggested. :)

Well over the past few days I have tried Rioja and I have to say that the one I had was very nice.

From Tesco's

Castillo De San Lorenzo Rioja Reserva 2001

You're buying crap wine I think....

Although I must admit I do like red wine + chocolate as a combo which I fear would make me somewhat of a pariah in wine circles :p.

No, commonl done in france and Switzerland. A good zesty red with some bitter-dark chocolate. hmmmm

Where does everyone buy their wine from? Is there any online retailer that offers the choice to make up your own case so to speak. Looking at Tesco it seems to be pre determined cases.

My local wine merchant delivers but the online selection is poor compared to the shop and it is a fair walk from a car park so lots of wine to carry is a blag!

^^ We tend to use Virgin wines - they seem to have a pretty decent selction and there is the ability to make your own case of red / white or a combination of both.

Also their delivery options are very good too.

Sainsburys (we have a large superstore close by) or a better selection I drive down to the local Laithwaites.

I'd be happy research bottles for online ordering & purchasing. There's no real point on just buying locally for this as everybody needs access to the same wine.

I know that's the accepted wisdom, but it tastes far nicer chilled than room temperature. Try it sometime and see for yourself.:p

I hate winter as room temp is chilled.

Cold red wine is gross, I often put cold bottle in the cupboard with the boiler just to warm them up.

You might be interested to know that next week Tesco will be running a 3 for 2 across ALL wine. Didnt hear it from me :p did wonder why ive had so much stock turn up. Also good call Slingwah, tis a lovely drink and the gran reserva is even better.
