Winrar Question - Sound effect sometimes but not others

I have been using Winrar to zip up my data folders and move them over to my new PC.

Sometimes when I zip a folder - it just does it and there is no sound effect.

Other times I zip a folder - there is a 'ching' sound effect - when it appears complete.

I think it may be when the folder I'm zipping has more files in that the 'ching' sound effect plays.

Has anyone else noticed it does it sometimes and not others? and is the sound effect an indicator of an error?

I have not used Winrar in quite some time.

I moved to 7 zip and have been using it since.

Have you checked the settings in winrar for sound\notifications? May give some idea of what the sound his hinting too

As above, I've been using 7-Zip for longer than I can remember now. It's free and has better compression - what's not to like?

Checked through the settings but nothing that stands out.
I will try 7-Zip, I guess the reason Ive never switched is that its always worked :)

Never knew it had a sound effect can't say I've ever heard it nor why it would matter in any significant way.

Oh I dunno, crappy UI? Its free is its main selling point. If you're looking for, oh I don't know, a sound effect you're going to be disappointed!

Yeah the UI is basic, but it does what it needs to. I can't say that I've ever found myself lost when using 7-Zip file manager to view the contents of archives.
