Winter 2014 - Weather Predictions

If it snows I won't be able to get to work.

All ready have stupid traffic when it simply rains.

dread to think what would happen in the snow
 
Snowed the other day here and i'm guessing it will be about -30oC again

Sounds normal to me this year :P

Sorry dude I can't see the weather map you and presumably her are commenting on, there seems to be a strong gravitational pull of some sort to the left of your posted image.:o

We are getting 2 viewpoints at the moment. Either it'll be really mild (Weather Network), or it'll be worse than last year (Farmer's Almanac).

It'll still be -35, however much snow falls.

No, the same hopeless guy from 'Exacta Weather' than the Daily Express love is predicting that, nobody else is. They wheel out the SAME story every single year and the local newspapers seem to lap it up. It's really quite bizarre.
 
More importantly will I wear long trousers while cycling to and from work?
I did back in 2012/2013 for several days but this last year wasn't cold enough.
 
Some weather will occur. I think that is the only certainty :D

They still can't predict accurately more than a few days in advance, so I won't believe any of the scaremongering. The express did the same last year, and the year before if I remember correctly, it's pathetic.

The short story is, we are at the epicentre of 4 different climates. The African, The Carribean, Greenland, and the Arctic. There is a powerful jetstream that meanders like a river over the top, pulling each like a blanket over the country. Which way the jet stream is moving dictates what our weathers like.

I don't know if weather balloon data is made public though.
