Winter 2023/24 - It's FREEZING!

Despite dire warnings of flooding here was mostly a non-event, was a couple of places on my way home earlier which were flooded a bit though.

Blimey, the wind is chilling today. Combi says 5c air temp outside, but it feels bitter in the south-westerlies, which are normally mild. I hope the predicted rain holds off until I have walked to work.

Fed up of Winter now - yes so many old chubby folks on here prefer it ;) but its just the worst time of year by a million miles, makes life hard, makes you feel tired, makes doing anything outside 10x more difficult, zero benefit to it - roll on spring & summer!!! Get my life back again !
No wonder you're fed up with that mindset.

I am fed up of winter rain also.

Bring me snowmageddon, doesn't the weather know I have winter tyres to drive about in. I want to smuggly laugh at muppets in their summer tyred SUVs getting stuck ;)

Blanket went back on over the duvet last night, bloody freezing. Meanwhile my wife's just lying there with the covers kicked off.
Met forecasting a bit of snow at the weekend here.

Its weird coming back to Cornwall from Yorkshire and it feels so much colder, BBC 3 degrees meant a decent frost
For me the biggest positive about winter is not having to trim bushes and trees constantly, followed by less tourists and lots of free parking
spring is my sweet spot, Autumn is warmer and the sea warm but i like all the garden colors coming out, even though i don't enjoy gardening
I always remember a chap who owned the site where i used to store my caravan down here someone said to him, beautiful day, he replied, show me one that isn't
think that sums up Cornwall

I felt the cold this morning.

I hate when it's really cold out, my hands split easily so I end up with load of splits and cuts on them :(
Same. Was talking to someone a few months ago who said they also suffered this. He told me his wife got him some Body Shop hand hemp moisturiser. I got some and it works. Better than e45 or Neutrogena etc.

Fine rain and mud fest, glad I have these wellys

How anyone can walk in wellies I'll never know.
On that particular route my walking trainers would be totally submerged,.feet would be ok with sealz socks but they would be soaking inside every day.
Don't even notice they are on tbh, very light and very comfy
Also they are standard footwear for beaches for most locals in the winter for wading through the shallows.ect

I just find they have zero grip, and mine weren't a cheap pair.

Yes and no, I was on slimy rock at Polzeath yesterday and these are the best grip I have apart from bare foot when it gets too dangerous.
Having said that I only got a year out of my tread before they became banana skins but some of my 12 mile dailys are 75% country roads (my rough tor route for instance)
