with it being so cold outside has anyone thought about taking their pc outside to try and get better overclocks for benchs? it was -18 here last night and -10 all day :D

Not actually took it outside to make a snowman with but....

I put the back of the case next to an open window for a few mins, which is the intake for the H50 in my machine.

Temps @ idle went down to 1C on core 2, which is the lowest I've ever seen them. Couldn't hit minus figures though.

I took my pc outside to the shed ( live in scotland. dont know what tempreature it was but it was really cold ) overclocked to 4.6ghz and was running at 7oc

Opened the window so i could get a smoke, crickey it's cold.

Gpu's have just dropped down to 25-24, both overclocked, thats only with one window opened, too cold for me though.:D

I've got 3 rigs in one small room folding 24/7, with the window open temps drop a good 10 degrees :)

Can't say i bother with that stuff anymore, used to when i lived in northern sweden for abit though few years back, benching on the deck in winter (-20 to -30) with some beers now that was fun.

Winters for me now, my comp temps are the same as they are in summer, has i have my heating on high in my room, so unlike setter im not freezing when using my comp haha.

Seen 29 degrees in my Shuttle for the first time with a Q9650 @3.6Ghz and the fan at only 45%. It's not near a window or anything, just in the corner of the room.
Some crazy temps though by others.

Yeah I'm the same. I just set a 24/7/365 overclock and be done with it. With the central heating cranked up I get pretty much the same temperatures as in summer.

Forgot to mention im on water, so loaded temps are never higher then mid 60's summer/winter.

I could probably get some insane temps if i did have my window open at night and no heating on, as my room can get damn cold lol, but i like my warmth to much for that lol.

I may test it if i get drunk enough over the holidays, as the booze will keep me warm haha.

Northern sweden, now that would be VERY cold. I hate the cold myself mate, however id still be interested in seeing how low i could get this rig running, the gpu's especially. Im stuck on air cooling as it would cost a considerable amount to watercool an i7 and sli 470's, but when a decent single card comes out i may still go with water, i bought some tubing and some bitspower barbs, just to have. I may in the future go to water cooling:), scouring the members market now and again for rads, pumps, reservoirs etc to help cut the cost. I think as a cooling method, every enthusiast should try it at least once.

Oh yeh it was damn cold, but damn fun doing crazy low temps on air lol.

Yeh i would say 2nd hand stuff from MM, is best way to go, especially as u will know most of the watercooling guys on here, and they all generally have good kit, and some nice stuff often pops up in there.

Thankfully my case is a good size for a watercooled setup, lots of space.

I could fit a triple rad in the roof, though id loose the top two 5.25 bays, (hdd's have since been reverse mounted to hide the cables) no big issue really, as theres another three for my fan controller and blu ray drive to utilise, go with a tube type res such as the ek multi option.

Didnt think a quad would be possible, due to the A70F having the power/reset/fp audio and usb etc being located on the top of the case?
