You seem to be missing the difference between adequate and better .....

Snow socks would be a great solution for when it snows, but doesnt really help on icy country lanes does it? The cold grip difference between my Conti Winter Sport Contacts and my Conti Sport Contact 7's that I run in summer is night and day. Yes I could drive all year on the Sport Contacts by why take the extra risk when I have 2 sets of wheels and space to store them? I'd prefer to have the extra grip whilst driving my 3 year old to nursery.
