I had to do a fresh install of Windows due to my recent PSU failure (and motherboard, and sector 0 on HDD). Now I turn the system on and the logon screen says to click my username to start, but there's no username to click!!!

Any ideas as to how to get back into my computer?!??!!?

Try CTRL-ALT-DEL & enter in Administrator for the user & leave the password blank. In theory, this should log you into the built-in administrator account, using the old (Win2k style) login box.

was about to suggest that

do ctrl+alt+del twice and enter your normal logon details

mybe logonui.exe is corrupt (the xp type logon exe)

Worked a treat. Thanks, folks. Going to try and figure out why it did that in the first place. I never set it up for multiple accounts. Maybe it was something I did playing around in TweakUI......

for now use autologon

start, run,
control userpasswords2

then replace your logonui.exe file in system32 folder

i'd backup your stuff just incase the hard drive is on the brink..
