Hi All,

Can anyone please let me know if a OSX 10.5 should be able to extract windows winzip files by default ? , or do i need some special software ?

Thanks

It's built in, but you can use a third party app if you want.

i must be doing something wrong then, as when i try to open the zip file in documents it gets opened by archive utility (default) and then gets compressed into another PGFX or similar compressed file ?

Try using Stuffit Expander.

it's a winzip file with jpg's only. I am a mac newbie so am totally confused why
when i try to open winzip file it opens with the archive utility and is converted to a *.cpgz file

does it open with stuffit expander ?

is there a way to reset the default application for zip,rar

Right click and hold down option when the contextual menu appears.

Then just choose "Always open with", and BOOM! job done.
