Hiya's,

Going live with o2 wednesday, Router etc being delivered monday

Also monday i'm hoping my adsl-nation NTE5 ADSL faceplate will arrive

Now, I've just undone the BT cover to look at the freshly installed wiring to new box/line

As i unscrewed the outer cover there's no wires attached to this

So i undid the remaining 2 screws and i have
A: White wire (solid colour)
B: Orange wire (solid colour)

2 other wires are showing a Black solid colour and a Green solid colour

Now under a plastic sheaf cover by the zip-tie there are wires there but without removing this sheaf i've no idea what colours they are

Looks like 3 wires covered for certain

Anyone come across these colours and better still can someone link to a site ?

Been looking but can't and info (wanted to wire up the adsl socket asap it comes you see)

If it matters my exchange is Lichfield in staffordshire, http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/CMLIC

Any help/advice much appreciated :)

Hope it makes sense

You shouldn't need to / want to mess with the wires going into the back of the NTE5, that's BTs domain. What are you trying to accomplish?

Hiya,

Well it's to add the built-in filter for adsl eg: adsl-nations NTE5 ADSL Faceplate

It's legal to do this i know, as you say the wires going in the back are BT's

Found answer though :)

No wiring involved, The ADSL Faceplate simple replaces the facepalte that's on so just plug n play lol ...................................

EDIT: Seeing as it's a sole new line with no extensions off the main-box it's just faceplate off and new filtered one in (the slot connects new faceplate as does the standard faceplate) , Thought best to make that clear as wiring is only needed if you have added extensions

Cheers

Im about to get one of these faceplates now. Ive already checked the box is ok looking for the ring wire which isnt connected. Im hoping this will solve some recent issues ive had regarding speed, had a solid 7meg connection for a long time until last week when it went pear shaped :(

EDIT: I also have some wires not connected. I dont really know what they are for but I dont need them so im leaving well alone.

Hiya,

I assumed (bad/wrongly) that my wiring was different (overlooked the fact that these wires were Always on the Consumers part lol)

As it turns out it's just because i have no phone extensions coming off this new master

Only 2 wires in mine being used White on A, and Orange on B as i say

New to adsl as you may of guessed lol, When i read about these new faceplates i thought what the heck might as well have one from the start

Would be interested in your findings when you fit yours eg: before and after he he

I did mine the other week I think it was 2 = white 5 = orange.

If you read the instructions you find all over the net these are the only 2 wires you need.

As long as you write down the colours and number they are conected to then just copy it for the new face plate. Test then it should be fine.

I gained 1mb in speed, Im still waiting for Be to enable my exchange.

Hiya,

That's a nice gain you got :)

Is this right then ??? ......

I remove the newly installed line faceplate with 2 screws, This comes out with no wires attached (as i read this is because i have no extensions etc off the new installation)

The faceplate basicly has a slot fixing just like a phone cord making a connection

So new adsl faceplate just slots back in instead of BT's faceplate ??

Only 2 wires that are fixed anywhere are the orange and white ones to A and B

Or are you saying the orange and white will need to be moved to the removable new faceplate in corresponding connections ??

In fact, I'll try and charge batteries now for a few digicam shots and post so i can get to grips with what i've gotta do lol (scratch that idea, can't find camera as fiancee likes to hide my things grrrrrrrr)

Cheers
