sorry for the noob question
in a wired-only network, what's the best way to add wifi that's limited to web traffic only?

so those connecting with their devices eg tablets, smartphones and laptops only get http access only?

i was thinking it might be with a wireless access point but not sure if you can configure it in this way?

thanks

You are probably best finding an access point that has a Guest access feature, it's pretty much designed for allowing standard web traffic, whilst protecting the rest of the network from guest devices

My netgear router has this capability as well if you'd prefer an all in one solution

You could get a wireless router as well. Most allow guest SSID's, some even have captive portals that users need to agree on to access the network. Routers may give you a bit more control over the wireless traffic than a standalone access point.

As you've mentioned a wired only network are you using a switch? I was thinking if you are and it has the option of creating a VLAN perhaps you could connect a wireless router or AP to a designated port associated with a separate VLAN.
