Wireless access point

Hi,
Would i be right in thinking i could use a wireless access point in my bedroom to wireless connect a computer to the downstairs router?
By plugging a cable into the acces point from the computer, would this effectively be making a wireless connection from computer to pc?

If the router's wireless and the AP works as a client, you should be able to connect the two. Anything you connected to the AP would then get an IP from the router and work as if it was connected with a cable (bar the reduced throughput).
