Wireless Acess Point with Switch

First, go to 192.168.0.1 and change the DHCP range to 192.168.0.10 to 192.168.0.200

Once you have DD-WRT installed do this...

Go to http://192.168.1.1/index.asp and change the following;

WAN Connection Type : Disabled

STP : Disabled

Router Name : Whatever you want to call it

Local IP Address : 192.168.0.2
Subnet Mask : 255.255.255.0

Assign WAN port to Switch : Checked

DHCP Type : DHCP Forwarder
DHCP Server : 192.168.0.1

Now click apply settings.

Now plug your cable from your DG834 into you 3700 (doesnt matter what port now they are all switch ports) and you can plug all of your devices in as well.

You should now be able to browse to 192.168.0.1 and get your DG834 and browse to 192.168.0.2 and get the settings page for the 3700.

You can now set up your wireless settings on the 3700.

All of the above basically turns the 3700 into a dumb gigabit switch with a built in wireless access point.

I have mine setup like this..

Netgear DG834 --- switch --- Airport extreme (via wan port)

Perfect. Does dual band and wireless N with guest and has gigabit Ethernet. Had no problems with NAT either :)

Sorry for the late reply, had a few issues with other things and didn't get around to this immediately.

Then I came home a couple of weeks ago and no lights on the new router...dead as a dodo :( Just got the RMA replacement and have done all that this morning!

Had a few teething troubles, couldnt access 192.168.0.1...had a few IP conflict errors, but a reboot or two and it all seems to be working as sweet as anything, thank you! :)

2 Questions though :

1) The 3700 has a USB port for external HD. In the original firmware it was setup as //readyshare. I know I have dumbed this down to WAP and switch but can I still use it for a network external usb drive?

I have switched on USB support in services and also proFTPD in NAS tab. The router 'sees' the drive (it's listed in drive info on USB tab) but my pc cant see it on the network. Do I need to do anything with the samba option?

2) Also in the original firmware , you could have a guest wireless setting, can you do this (easily) with the DD-WRT...not a big issue if you can't
