Wireless Cable Router

try setting yours (just in the router settings) to channel 8 since 1,6,11 are being used in your area already :)

I'll give it a go but not sure if it'll work.

After doing some research it appears that it might be something to do with p2p software and the Linksys router hanging on to the connections for up to 5 days?!

It's so annoying, you could be browsing the internet, then all of a sudden it'll just freeze, fail to connect to the website (as the browser times out) then you hit refresh a couple of times and it's back!

I don't think I actually lose communication with the router, however nothing transmits through it to anything attached to it. E.g. my PS3 and therefore it quits my game.

just upgraded from linksys wrt54gs with tomato firmware to D-Link DIR-655 Wireless 300Mbps Gigabit Edition Cable Router, problems i had with the linksys was the wan to lan throughput everything else has been bob on for years.

lead_head the problems you're having sound like channel noise problems, i've got 2 wireless devices, one was fine when using ch6 (there's 2 or 3 others using ch6 around here too), but the gf's laptop would cut out etc..

changing the channel fixed it

a lot of users on here use that router with no problems at all :)

none at all the new router imo is a hell of a lot better than the linksys if u can afford it :D

OK, been out for an hour and left it downloading after changing the channel to 8 and then rebooting the router.

This is a graph from tomato over a 10 minute period... note the massive flatline!!

Bledd. have you got MSN pal? :(

Was starting to look at the Linksys WRT54GL then started to do some research and read a lot of people having problems with connecting to their PS3s. Has anyone heard about this or had similar problems?

No. I have a PS3 and a WRT54GL v1.1 - I have had no problems.

Did you have to do anything to get it set up and working or just simple plug n play?
I've been reading about the PS3 not picking up the internet or somat.

What intenet provider you with? I'm with VM

I'm with VM (10MB). I just setup the wireless security as normal (WPA2) and it connected. Really wasn't anything to it. I went on PS3 Home, played GTA4 online and visited the playstation store - no problems.

Cool, is that with the PS3 connected wireless or wired?

I've got the 160GB PS3 and was planning on connecting via cable than wireless, for 1...i'm not sure if the ps3 has wireless built in and 2..whats wireless performance like?

Wireless before. Now I'm wired to a switch which is connected to a repeater bridge that connects wirelessly to my Linksys downstairs :D

Wireless performance is fine - never had any problems with it at all.

All PS3's bar the 20GB model have wireless built in (802.11b/g), I believe.

Unless someone comes up with something better at approx the same price, think I'll get the linksys to see how I get on

Has anyone got a ps3 set up directly into the linksys via wired or wireless? Just wondering how you get on

Something better = Buffalo WHR G125. Cheaper and slightly improved chipset (faster and better wireless range). Can accept third party firmware like the Linksys.
