Hi all,

My notebook PC has an Atheros AR5005G wireless chipset in it, but I can't find how to enable it!

I'm running XP Home, and I have installed the Atheros Config Utility. I can't find how to enable the wireless NIC either in Windows Zero Config or in the Atheros own software.

The connection exists in Network Connections, but is "Not Connected".

Obviously when I scan for available networks, nothing is displayed.

When I run the Atheros diagnostics, it says that the radio function is turned off....... :( and of course I already know that!

I know the wireless LAN is working cos there are other PCs on it. And the PC's wired LAN port works fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Irf.

Most laptops have a button on the laptop to turn on or off the wireless adapter.

Stupid question, but have you made sure its not off?

On my laptop I have to hold the "FN" key (Function Key) and F2. For yours, the F key might be different. Look on the F keys and the blue symbols. The wireless one looks like a Radio mast.

Thats a good wireless adapter by the way. Atheros make the best wireless chipsets.
