Hey,

Just got a Netgear WG602 this morning plugged it in, all working fine - macbooks getting it and was able to browse the net.

Problem: trying to configure it on http://192.168.0.227/ does not work :confused:

it just 'times out' I pinged it and all I got was 4 X 'request timed out'.

i've got it PC > Billion ADSL router > Netgear access point

Pretty annoying, not sure what to do.

Anything?

cheers

Are you sure it's 192.168.0.227?

Go to start > run
Type 'cmd' press enter
Type 'ipconfig' and press enter.

You are looking for you default gateway. This will be the address you will need to connect to.

More than likely be 192.168.0.1

Ah that takes me to my Billion ADSL router config.. im guessing thats a prob?

Thanks

No your right actually, just been looking it up.
It should be 192.168.0.227, thats the default IP of the device out the box.

I'm getting myself confused.

If you go to the config of you Billion adsl router can you check within there what devices are connected? Hopefully the Netgear AP will be listed in there and it will hopefully tell you what IP it has been assigned.

Once you have this, just type the address into the address bar within your browser.

Ah right, thanks. The Billion's config thing is pretty confusing not sure what to do - there's nothing obvious.

Google's not turning up much :(

Provided your machine's on the same subnet as the AP (and if the AP's 192.168.0.227 and the router's 192.168.0.1, it is), you should just be able to stick it's IP into your browser.

The router probably won't show it because the AP won't be getting an IP from the router.

Google suggests the router's default IP is 192.168.1.254 - you'll need to reconfigure the AP to 192.168.1.x.

Yup, Tolien is right plus...

by the looks of things, as a default your billion router has 100 address' to assign starting from 192.168.1.100.
So your address pool is 192.168.1.100- 192.168.1.199.
Your Netgear device is outside the address pool range.

Try connecting to your billion config area and amending the address pool range to include 227 into the range.

It doesn't have to be inside the DHCP pool. So long as the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, there shouldn't be a problem.
