Friend has a garage approx 65 ft away from his house. He wants internet in his garage. Best way?

He has power in the garage fed from the house to a sep consumer unit in the garage.

Advice would be superb. Ta

Best solution would be either run some copper or fibre :D

Easiest would be a wireless bridge but has all the issues associated with wireless reliability.

You could try some HomePlugs but would need them as close each end of the power run as possible to increase the chance of them working to full potential, they can work across rings and consumer units but results are not always great.

He just wants the best solution. Not sure on budget. Running cable is a no no as all concrete around.

Wireless extender any good?

The best would be point to point wifi but that will be a few hundred pound. Or a External AP might reach that far without obstructions.

You ask for the best and then come up with the worst of the worst i.e power line and wi-fi extender. It's almost a certain that the out building will be on a different ring circuit to the house so won't work with any kind of speed.

You say running a cable is impossible, is there no fence or wall a cable could be tacked to?

A pair of Ubiquiti nanostation point to point adapters will run you to just over £100 on the rainforest and be close to as good as a cable for reliability albeit probably not speed. Still fast enough though I'm sure.

Second the Ubiquiti Nanostation. Maxes out at 150Mbps which will be more than enough for Internet browsing. They are meant to be very consistent and reliable -- I have experience with several other Ubiquiti products, but not the Nanostation.
