Anyone recommend a wireless ISP (non telephone line) that covers west London.

But afaik there are no wireless providers in the Ealing area.

What's LLU, and will it raise the speed on a line that can only handle half a meg?

Local Loop Unbundling. $provider comes along and shoves their kit (on the whole) in the exchange.
Thus can offer services that BTw won't, or (thanks to significantly less connections) will play about with lines more than BT feasibly could.

Providers being Bulldog, Easynet (aka UK Online), Homechoice, and Tiscali have an LLU operation going on too. Some other ISPs have LLU setups either ongoing or in the pipeline.

The end product is that generally, you'll get as much as your line can handle. So in other words, you might get more - but it's not guaranteed. Line stats (attenuation, SNR margin, transmit power) might help when it comes to judging if you'd get more. But of course, that requires an existing working ADSL service.
