Wireless N card signal randomly dropping out?

I bought this cheapo adaptor - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=NW-014-OK&groupid=46&catid=1597&subcat= - a few days ago, and put it in my new build.
I then installed a fresh copy of W7 Ultimate and the speeds were nice seeing as I'm quite far from my router [30MBPS on speedtest.n].

I didn't install the driver as on a previous install of windows the driver seemed to kill it off completely (Randomly down to 1-2mbps then dc then up to 5 then dc etc)

Now it's started cutting out randomly. It'll be fine for 5 minutes or so then completely disconnect from my router and thus the internet, then it generally can re-connect straight away. When it's re-connected speeds are just as they were before disconnection..

It's like signal is interrupted or something?!

eh..
And if you're wondering; I genuinely know hardly anything about networking!
The router is a Virgin superhub thing

It's now getting 10-17mbps on speedtest, and that's not a flat stable line, it has random sharp inclines, however the signal is full and the random cutouts appear to have stopped.

WHAT IS GOING ON..I haven't changed anything?!

ide blame the superhub personally mine is awefull with massivly varying speeds and stupidly high pings on speed tests plugged in a cisco buisnes access point
and the diffrence was amazing. pings dropped from 200-300 down to a constant 20 and speed tests now give me 100mb not the 50-60 i got before
