Hi all,

My wifi is driving me insane. These last few days, it's taken on a very annoying habit.

It will disconnect from the network and immediatly, as in, 0.5 seconds later, reestablish connection. It's so quick that things like Teamspeak dont realise its happened and remain connected. Unfortunately, Eve Online, IRC, etc etc all disconnects.

It's driving me crazy. I am 5 metres from the router and have 'Excellent' signal strength. Using a Linksys Wifi card and a Thomson Speedtouch router. Appears only to affect my PC.

Any suggestions?

Re-install drivers for wifi/router? Check if nothing comes into contact with it, such as high frequency devices?

Make sure that the 'Automatically connect to non preferred networks' option in the Advance bit in the Wireless Networks tab isn't selected. It might be trying to connect to someone elses network.

Have you run Tuneup Utilities Internet wizard? After running this on 2 computers i had great difficulty trying to connect, and when it did it wouldn't stay connected.

Also i've found that reinstalling this card only causes more problems :(

I have had a lot of problems with my Linksys Wifi card which is in a pc about 6 inches away from the hub! - I couldn't find a network cable. I don't think much of Linksys cards, i find them very temperamental.

I now use a ZyXel wireless stick that cost me about £5, not had any problems with it - im about 10 metres from the hub (upstairs)

Some people get an issue with Wireless Zero Configuration whereby approx every 60s they get a short spike of packetloss.

I have a Linksys card and what I do is use their drivers, and disable the WZC service.
