Wireless Network File Transfer Speed

I've recently bought a new laptop which I've installed the RC version of Windows 7 on and I've just set up file sharing between my laptop and my Intel iMac which all seems to work fine but I'm a little concerned about the file transfer speed between the two.

My wireless router is G which, as I understand it, should transfer at 54Mb/s which equates to 6.75MB/s. Now, I know that this is an absolute max and I shouldn't expect to hit that mark but at the moment I'm transferring at around 150KB/s which is insane.

I'm trying to copy a 4gb file between the two and it reckons it's going to take around 10 hours.

Does anyone have any idea why this could be?

All three devices (laptop, iMac and router) are in the same living room about 6 meters apart. I'm using channel 13. There's only one other wireless network nearby but I'm not sure which channel it's using.
