I need some help sorted out what hardware/equipment i need for my plan.

I currently have 10mb broadband (Blueyonder)

I have that linked up to my laptop. I aso have a Xbox 360. When i play on the 360 on live i have to run a cable across my room to my cablem odem and disconnect my lappy.

I want to set up a wireless network so i can run both at same time but also save on wires across the room.

My lappy has wireless enabled btw. I know you can buy the xbox 360 wirelass adapter to plug into the back of the 360 but imo its too expensive.

Is there a linksys system or similar where i get a wireles router and something to plug nto the usb at back of my xbox 360 so i an run lappy and xbox at same time?

Help greatly appreciated :)

in english, it's google time :p.

What's giving you the wireless to the laptop? (and does the 360 have a network port?)

I don't know if the Xbox has it's own Wireless adaper availiable but you can also use so-called "gaming adapters" from companies like Linksys. They basically create a wireless bridge which is what you want. Either way you need a bridge rather than a router because a bridge simply connects two parts of the network together without playing with the traffic.

It sounds to me like he'll be wanting a router and and access point.

Sorry - I tought he was going to adhoc to the wireless on the laptop to a bridge on the xbox, which is possible.

But yes you will need a broadband router and an access point because I don't think wireless gaming adapters allow bridging to an access point, I may be wrong though.

They should do, it's more tha fact that the cable modem doesn't do nat.
