Well - here I am with another question to tax the minds of OcUK.....
I have recently got the BT HomeHub and in order to connect my 2 PCs to it I bought 2 Linksys WMP54G PCI cards. I installed these into my PCs - one which runs Windows XP and one which runs Windows 2000. Now.....the XP machine works very well indeed and is not the problem - the Windows 2000 box is. Although the card works - it takes ~ 10 minutes to "warm up". That is to say - the PC connects to the internet (just about) and runs at dial up speeds for a good 10-15 minutes. Then, for no apparent reason, it kicks into life and starts working normally. It will repeat this trick every 30 minutes or so. If it didn't work at all I could at least understand it - it's the intermittedness (is there such a word) that is infuriating. So far I have tried:
- Swapping cards
- Reinstalling Drivers
- Fresh build of Windows 2000 including SP4 and updates
- Swapping position of the 2 PCs (they're both in the same room anyway)
all to no avail.
So - is there anything I am missing? The PC in question is running Windows 2000 Professional with SP4, latest drivers for card, 512Mb RAM and an ASUS AV7 333 motherboard.
Any and all suggestions gratefully received.
Cheers
